A delegation from the Kurdistan Medical Control Agency (KMCA) conducted a field visit to New Standard Company’s pharmaceutical laboratory in Erbil to review ongoing operations and laboratory activities. The purpose of the visit was to assess the laboratory’s infrastructure and technical procedures, and to verify their compliance with health and quality standards adopted in the Kurdistan Region. The delegation also received a detailed briefing from the technical staff on the testing and control mechanisms applied by the laboratory to ensure the quality and safety of pharmaceutical products. During the visit, New Standard reaffirmed its full commitment to both local and international standards in quality control and testing, highlighting that the development of laboratories represents a core component of the company’s strategy to build trust in pharmaceutical products and to support the healthcare sector in the region. This visit comes within the framework of ongoing cooperation and coordination between the public and private sectors, aiming to enhance laboratory services and ensure the availability of safe and high-quality medicines for citizens.
From September 11 to 13, 2025, New Standard Company organized a special training course on workplace safety for its staff working at Erbil border checkpoints and within the Domestic Production Committee.
The course focused on the correct use of protective equipment and methods to safeguard employees’ health and safety in the workplace, with special attention to quality and prevention standards.

New Standard is sending members of its technical team to Gaziantep (Turkey) for hands-on training at Yılteks Enerji (YILTEKS ENERGY), a leading manufacturer of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) storage tanks and pressure piping. The program focuses on LPG systems fundamentals, safety and operations requirements, and best-practice maintenance and inspection, supporting the readiness of our facilities. This step strengthens our team’s capabilities in preparation for upcoming projects and service expansions.
New Standard initiated final preparations to host the Jordan Accreditation System (JAS) assessment team as part of extending the laboratory’s ISO/IEC 17025 scope to include food testing. The readiness program includes updated controlled documents, method validations, calibration certificates, staff qualification records, proficiency testing participation, internal audit evidence, and management-review outcomes, ensuring full alignment with standard requirements.
At a handover held at New Standard’s Erbil office on 12 July 2025, Mr. Abdulwahid Mohammed Ibrahim, Acting Director General of the Iraqi Accreditation, presented the company with its renewed ISO/IEC 17025 certificate. The renewal is valid for two years and has been communicated and implemented across New Standard’s network, including the Ibrahim Khalil Border Crossing, Haji Omaran Border Crossing, Erbil International Airport, the Seiji branch, and the Erbil laboratory, reinforcing the company’s commitment to technically valid results, impartial operations, and continuous improvement.
New Standard launched a temporary site of the New Standard Laboratory for Quality Control of Medicines and Medical Supplies in Erbil to ensure uninterrupted service while construction continues on the dedicated branch within the Central Quality Laboratory campus. The interim site features advanced instrumentation from internationally accredited manufacturers and a comprehensive training program for scientific and technical teams. Harmonized procedures, controlled environments, and robust chain-of-custody will be applied from sample receipt through certified reporting—maintaining turnaround times, traceability, and alignment with international quality standards.
New Standard signed an official contract with North Light Living to construct the company’s Central Quality Laboratory in Baharka, Erbil. The signing took place at New Standard’s headquarters in Erbil and formalizes cooperation to deliver a 13,000 m² campus designed to international standards. The laboratory will consolidate major testing divisions—including human pharmaceuticals, veterinary medicines, and pesticides—with modern infrastructure that supports full traceability from sample receipt to certified reporting. Completion is targeted for the end of June 2026.
A New Standard delegation visited the Haji Omaran Border Crossing to coordinate the planned expansion and upgrade of the company’s laboratory. In a meeting and brief site walk with Mr. Masoud Batili, the Border Director, the team reviewed the current footprint, access routes, and basic utilities. The visit focused on coordination with the crossing administration and a short walk-through to identify possible locations for the upgrade within the compound. The teams noted current constraints—space availability, vehicle flow near inspection bays, and utility access and agreed to exchange site data and designate focal points for follow-up.
New Standard has announced the commencement of construction works for its Central Quality Assurance Laboratory in Baharka – Erbil, with an area of 13,000 m² and built to international standards. The project aims to consolidate major testing branches under one roof, including human pharmaceutical analysis, veterinary drug testing, and pesticide evaluation. The complex will serve as an advanced reference hub for Kurdistan and the wider region, featuring controlled environments and an integrated workflow that ensures efficiency and full traceability from sample receipt to the issuance of certified reports. Completion is expected by the end of June 2026.

The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Paul Ibrahim, General Manager (Intertek International) for the Kurdistan region. This renewed partnership will enhance New Standard Company to reinforcing its position as a leader in quality-driven services.
